TFC's Richie Laryea, Jonathan Osorio called up by Canada
Both Toronto FC players are included in Jesse Marsch's latest roster, alongside newcomers Owen Goodman and Alfie Jones.
Toronto FC captain Jonathan Osorio and fullback Richie Laryea remain firmly in the fold for the Canadian men’s team less than one year out from the FIFA World Cup.
Both players were included in coach Jesse Marsch’s 24-man roster released on Thursday for this month’s international friendlies, alongside goalkeeper Owen Goodman and defender Alfie Jones who’ve been called up by Canada for the first time. Winger Marcelo Flores has also been summoned into camp as a “training player,” which means he won’t play in these upcoming matches.
Ranked No. 28 in the world, Canada faces Ecuador (No. 23) at Toronto’s BMO Field on Nov. 13 and Venezuela (No. 50) at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale on Nov. 18.
Laryea’s call up for this window shouldn’t come as a surprise. If there was one Canadian player whose World Cup stock has significantly risen over the last two international windows, it’s Laryea's.
