Matheus Pereira's recovery capped off by 1st goal for TFC
Sidelined for most of the season through injury, the Brazilian came up big for Toronto FC in a dramatic home draw vs. Orlando City.
TORONTO – The unlikeliest of goal scoring heroes emerged for Toronto FC in Wednesday’s 3-3 draw vs. Orlando City at BMO Field.
With TFC down by one and minutes away from suffering a soul crushing loss, Matheus Pereira pounced on rebound given up by Canadian goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau to score in the 90th minute and help his side salvage a point.
It was a stunning finish by Pereira who adjusted himself and made contact with his right leg while the ball was behind his body.
The goal was Pereira’s first for TFC in 12 MLS games (seven starts) this season and the 10th of a club career that included previous stints with a pair of teams in his native Brazil and in Portugal.
