Toronto FC fighting for its playoff life in last 3 weeks of MLS season
TFC Republic examines the Reds' last four matches that will decide their fate as a playoff contender or pretender.
It's getting down to the wire for Toronto FC and the MLS playoff race in the Eastern Conference.
A 2-0 road win vs. the New York Red Bulls last weekend allowed TFC to extend their unbeaten streak to three consecutive matches.
Toronto (8-10-12, 36 points) enters this weekend in 10th place in the East, level on points with the Red Bulls who hold down the ninth and final playoff berth, and four points behind eighth-place FC Cincinnati. The Columbus Crew, New York City FC and D.C. United are all within three points of Toronto in the table.
The good news for TFC is that three of their remaining four games are against teams that sit lower than them in the standings. The bad news is that they don't control their fate and have to rely on results elsewhere. The Reds also aren't helped by the fact that three of their remaining games are on the road where they have only earned three wins and collected 12 points from 14 games
Let's take a look at Toronto FC's last four matches that will decide its fate as a playoff contender or pretender.
