MONTREAL – The Canadian men’s team is showing no signs of a hangover following its historic showing at this summer’s FIFA World Cup.

Ex-Toronto FC winger Jacob Shaffelburg scored a first-half brace to guide Canada to a convincing 2-0 victory over Peru in Saturday’s international friendly before an announced sellout crowd at Stade Saputo.

It was the Canadians’ second consecutive shutout victory against South American opposition in their first two games since bowing out of the World Cup in the round of 16.

Les Rouges have one more match on their docket for this international window which they are using to not only celebrate their World Cup success but also as preparation for next month’s Concacaf Nations League qualifiers.
