After a year-long injury, Liam Millar is set to return for Canada
In a 1-on-1 interview, Millar discusses the long road to recovery from his knee injury, his battles with depression, and much more.

MONTREAL – It's been a long, hard and dark road to recovery for Canadian winger Liam Millar.
A key figure for the Canadian men's team last year at the beginning of coach Jesse Marsch's tenure, Millar completed a transfer from Swiss side Basel to English outfit Hull City last summer, a move that was supposed to take his club career to the next level and strengthen his hold on a roster spot for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
But Millar, a 26-year-old from Toronto, tore his anterior cruciate ligament last October while playing for Hull and ended up missing most of the season while also being sidelined for a slew of national team games
Eleven months later, Millar is back in action, having earned two appearances for Hull City in recent weeks, including a solid showing off the bench in a 2-2 draw against Preston North End in which he helped create the equalizer.
The cultured left winger has also been recalled by Canada, named to Marsch's 24-man roster for Friday's friendly vs. Australia in Montreal and next Tuesday's match vs. Colombia in New Jersey. If Millar plays in either game, it'll mark his 36th cap for Canada, and first since last October's victory over Panama in a friendly in Toronto in which he assisted on Jonathan David's late winner.
In this one-on-one interview with TFC Republic, Millar discusses the knee injury and his recovery, his battle with depression during his time off, having to regain his spot on the Canadian team, and much more.
