Matty Longstaff: 'No bitterness whatsoever' towards TFC
In a 1-on-1 interview, Longstaff reflects on his time with Toronto FC, being traded to CF Montreal, and much more.

A regular starter under John Herdman in 2024, Matty Longstaff found the going much tougher at Toronto FC during his second MLS season.
Longstaff, 25, struggled for regular playing time during the first half of the 2025 campaign as new coach Robin Fraser preferred to go with other midfield options. The Englishman eventually worked his back in the starting 11 over the summer before being traded to CF Montreal in mid-August.
Since then, Longstaff has made five appearances (three starts) for Montreal, including a 90-minute performance in a 1-1 draw against Toronto which marked his first game back at BMO Field since the trade.
