Toronto FC in search of DP striker with record of 'double digit goals'

GM Jason Hernandez is determined to bring in a DP for Toronto FC this off-season who has a history as a proven goal scorer.

Toronto FC in search of DP striker with record of 'double digit goals'

With just five wins on the season, Toronto FC is poised to miss the playoffs for a fifth straight year.

It’s not too difficult to understand why the Reds are in this predicament. A quick glance at the MLS table reveals that TFC have the second-worst attack in the league with 28 goals in 28 games.

Theo Corbeanu leads the team in scoring (five goals), followed by fellow Canadians Deandre Kerr and captain Jonathan Osorio (three goals apiece). No other current member of the squad has scored more than one goal in MLS play this year – Sigurd Rosted, Alonso Coello and Jules-Anthony Vilsaint have one apiece.

Much was expected of Ola Brynhildsen when he signed a season-long loan deal with TFC in February. But the Norwegian forward proved to be a major bust, producing just two goals and an assist in 22 games in all competitions. It hardly came as a surprise on Tuesday when the club announced it came to a mutual agreement with Brynhildsen to terminate his loan deal, effective immediately.
