September 4, 2026: Colombian joins Reds from CSKA Sofia
Toronto FC has acquired winger Alejandro Piedrahita from Bulgarian club CSKA Sofia (First Division) on loan through the 2027 MLS Sprint season, with an option to purchase. He’ll take up an international roster slot.
Quick analysis: This appears to be a low-risk loan move for a young South American player who hasn’t yet fully broken out.
Piedrahita, 24, is a winger who can play on either side, who is quick on the dribble and has a reputation for taking on defenders 1v1. Toronto could certainly use more of those qualities and the fact that this is only a loan deal means there’s no real downside for Toronto.
