TFC newcomer Lewis Morgan: 'I've got a sprint season this year'
The Scottish international has a chance to get his club career back on track with Toronto FC after a failed stint at San Diego FC.
Lewis Morgan’s time in MLS has been a series of extreme highs and lows.
There were two seasons with the New York Red Bulls where he ranked among the league's best attackers, scoring a combined 27 league goals. But there were also two seasons in which he barely played, injuries limiting him to a combined eight league appearances.
There was an MLS Comeback Player of the Year award in 2024. But then there was a nondescript 2026 campaign with San Diego FC following last December’s trade from New York.
Morgan, 29, is on the move again, last week’s trade from San Diego to Toronto FC meaning he’s on his fourth MLS team since first coming to the league in 2020. Playing for TFC offers Morgan a new lease on life, a chance to get his club career back on track after an MLS career that must’ve felt like a roller coaster ride for him with so many steep peaks and just as many low valleys.
