For the second match in a row, TFC benefited from a goal-of-the-year contender by one of its Italian players. This time, though, it wasn't enough.

Toronto FC vs. Inter Miami: 3 takeaways

Toronto FC's playoff hopes aren't dead yet, but they are on life support.

A disappointing 2-1 road loss to Inter Miami on Saturday ended TFC's season-high five-game unbeaten run, while also delivering a killer blow to the Reds' chances of qualifying for the post-season.

Toronto (8-13-6) travelled to Florida in 11th place in the Eastern Conference, four spots and three points below the playoff line. Saturday’s loss saw TFC drop to 12th in the East, four points out of a playoff berth with only seven games remaining in the regular season. Toronto can slip to 13th (out of 14 teams) by the end of the weekend, depending on what happens in Sunday’s games.

Here are my three major takeaways from Saturday's loss.
