Italian DP Lorenzo Insigne was absent from Toronto FC's practice on Thursday due to "a personal family situation."
Fellow Italian Domenico Criscito was also missing in order to lend support to Insigne and his family. Insigne and his wife have two sons.
TFC did not offer any more details, aside from issuing the following statement t0 three reporters - CP's Neil Davidson, Toronto Sun's Steve Buffery and myself - who were in attendance for Thursday's training session before the the club leaves for Georgia on Friday:
"Lorenzo Insigne is dealing with a personal family situation and will not be at training today. Domenico Criscito stayed back to support Lorenzo and his family. Out of respect for the Insigne family, we will have no further comment on this today."
In the latest TFC Republic video blog, I discuss the Insigne situation and what his possible absence for Saturday's road game against Atlanta United could mean for the Reds.
