"I think it speaks volumes as to what we're doing here with the academy," Robin Fraser said of Roche's transfer to Sturm Graz.

Toronto FC made headlines last week when it sold youth academy prospect Elijah Roche to Sturm Graz of the Austrian first division.

A transfer fee was involved but financial details were not revealed by either club. Roche has been signed to a long-term contract by the Austrian outfit and is scheduled to officially join Sturm Graz II, the club’s reserve team, in the summer.

Roche, an 18-year-old centre back, grew up in Ottawa before moving to Toronto in 2023 when he joined the TFC youth academy. He is the nephew of former Canadian international Jamar Dixon, who played in the CPL for Pacific United from 2020 to 2022.
