Toronto FC vs. D.C. United: 3 takeaways
A come-from-behind win in TFC's final home game of the regular season kept them in contention for a playoff spot.
Toronto FC has built up a reputation this season as a team that fights to the very end.
That quality served the Reds well on Wednesday night as Josh Sargent's 86th-minute goal capped off a come-from-behind 2-1 win over D.C. United in their final home match of the 2026 MLS regular season.
"[Late comebacks] tend to be a theme for us, especially here at BMO. Don't know what it is ... This team just doesn't give up and fights to the end, so a massive result for us. On to the next one," Sargent stated.
A loss could have potentially eliminated TFC from post-season contention. Instead, this result means Toronto (9-11-12) remains 11th in the Eastern Conference, just two spots and two points below the playoff line with only two matches remaining in the season.
Here are my three major takeaways from Wednesday's match.
