Adam Pearlman could buck the trend of Toronto FC loanees
TFC have moved on from several players it loaned out over the past few years. But Pearlman could be different.
Sending out young players on loan is something that Toronto FC has done on a regular basis over the past several years.
Among those who have been shipped out by TFC at one time or another have been Ayo Akinola, Kosi Thompson, Charlie Sharp, Rocco Romeo, Jordan Perruzza, Hugo Mbongue, Luke Singh, and Cassius Mailula.
Toronto's strategy behind the loans was to send the youngsters to clubs where they’d get ample minutes and opportunities to play on a regular basis in the hope that they’d return to the club as improved players who could become key contributors. But it didn’t quite work out that way. Only Mailula is still with Toronto FC – he’s currently on loan at K.V. Kortrijk in the Belgian first league, and it wouldn’t come as a major surprise to see the Reds cut ties with the South African attacker.
But defender Adam Pearlman could be different and buck the trend of on-loan players who the Reds eventually moved on from one way or another.
