TFC 2's Reid Fisher eyes 1st team spot, but trusts the process
In a 1-on-1 interview, Fisher talks about his time in MLS NEXT Pro, debuting for Toronto FC, his future ambitions, and much more
Reid Fisher has been a true workhorse for TFC 2 ever since making his debut in MLS NEXT Pro in 2025.
Fisher, a 22-year-old from California, made 24 appearances (20 starts) and logged 1,782 minutes in his rookie season and has followed that up this year with another 20 games (and a team-high 1,670 minutes) while scoring the first two goals of his professional career.
Selected No. 23 overall in the 2025 MLS SuperDraft, Fisher made his Toronto FC debut on May 5, 2026, in a Canadian Championship match against Atlético Ottawa in which he more than held his own and was one of the few bright spots for the MLS club on a losing night.
Toronto-based writer James Grossi is the foremost authority on TFC 2, having covered the team in an in-depth fashion for several years. He says there are "many things to like about Fisher’s game."
"The physical tools he arrived with have only increased over his time with TFC 2; his ability to focus solely on his craft was always likely to pay dividends. He’s one of those defenders that relishes the battle, he welcomes it, and never gives up on a play. That willingness to compete is the foundation of a good defender. He works hard," Grossi told TFC Republic.
