Canada will have its hands full vs. Morocco in round of 16

"It's a team with no weaknesses really, which presents a big challenge in terms of our preparation," Jesse Marsch said.

Jesse Marsch didn’t let the grass grow under his feet following Canada’s historic win over South Africa in Los Angeles last Sunday at the FIFA World Cup.

The Canadian men’s team’s 1-0 decision over South Africa, secured via an injury time goal from co-captain Stephen Eustáquio, was its first ever win in a World Cup knockout match, and sent them through to Saturday’s round of 16 match in Houston.

Shortly after dispatching South Africa, Marsch boarded a plane for Mexico so he could attend the next day’s round of 32 match between the Netherlands and Morocco in Monterrey to scout Canada’s next opponent. Morocco scored in injury time to level the score at 1-1 and force extra time before prevailing in a penalty shootout setting up a return match from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar where the Africans defeated Canada in the group stage.

What Marsch saw from Morocco was a team with “no weaknesses” who dealt with the stifling heat much better than the Netherlands.
