Has Hugo Mbongue become Toronto FC’s forgotten man?
It would appear so, as even TFC coach Robin Fraser didn’t know too much about the young forward being recalled from Lexington SC and subsequent loan to Vancouver FC last week.
“I don't know the status of where he was and how he was doing. [But this provides] opportunities to play, and that's the most important thing. Whatever the reasons are for the move, at the end of the day, it's an opportunity to play, and if it means more playing time for him, then it's beneficial for us and him,” Fraser told TFC Republic.
As a way of a refresher, Mbongue, 21, was originally sent on loan to Lexington in March. Now he's going on loan to Vancouver for the rest of the 2025 CPL season. The agreement includes the option to make the transfer permanent.
