The Canadian men’s team were left kicking themselves following their disappointing exit at the FIFA World Cup.

Canada completely dominated Morocco through the first 45 minutes of Saturday’s round of 16 contest. But the Canadians couldn’t take full advantage of that supremacy and ended up conceding a trio of second half goals en route to a 3-0 defeat at Houston’s NRG Stadium.

Morocco advances to next Thursday's quarter-final in Boston against the winner of Saturday’s other round of 16 contest between France and Paraguay.

It could have all been different for Canada had it been able to score on any of its four shots during a first half in which it ran Morocco ragged. Instead, the Canadians are left asking one question: What if?

What if they were more ruthless in front of goal? What if they hadn’t switched off on Morocco’s opening goal? What if Alphonso Davies was fully fit? What if forward Jonathan David offered much more than just solid defensive work against the Africans?
