MLS SuperDraft pick looks to make impact with TFC 2

It took a little while, but Joseph Melto Quiah’s pro career finally got out of the starting gate for TFC 2.

Melto, a native of Montserrado, Liberia, couldn’t travel with TFC 2 for the first four games of the MLS NEXT Pro season, which kicked off on March 9, due to certain paperwork not being completed. Even after he became eligible to play, he was an unused substitute by coach Gianni Cimini for several weeks, following the action from the bench.

Then last week, Melto came on for the final eight minutes of a 2-0 home win over Inter Miami II in the first of what he hopes will be many appearances for TFC 2 before moving up to the senior team.

It wasn’t an ideal situation for the 20-year-old midfielder who signed with the Young Reds back in March after being selected in the third round (69th overall) of the 2025 MLS SuperDraft by Toronto FC just before last Christmas.
