NORTH YORK, ONT. – AFC Toronto finally has its first win under its belt after a laboured start to the inaugural Northern Super League season.

Toronto made the most of its limited scoring opportunities in earning a 2-1 victory over Calgary Wild FC on a rainy Thursday evening.

Nigerian forward Esther Okoronkwo scored goals on either side of half time to become the second player in NSL history to record a brace and help Toronto make a successful home debut before an announced crowd of 2,200 York Lions Stadium.

After being shut out 1-0 by Montreal Roses FC in its first game at BMO Field, Toronto suffered a 2-1 road loss to Ottawa Rapid FC last weekend. Kaylee Hunter, a 17-year-old forward, scored Toronto’s first ever goal in the loss. Calgary (1-2-0) was coming off a 4-1 win over Halifax Tides FC on Saturday.
