Taking a look at Toronto FC's player salaries for this season
TFC Republic does a deep dive into the salary numbers, examining every player's wages and salary cap hit for the 2026 campaign.
On Tuesday, the MLS Players Association publicly revealed the salaries for all of its players for the 2026 season.
With that in mind, TFC Republic decided to look at the numbers for Toronto FC, examining every player's pay packet and salary cap hit. Before we take a deep dive into the player salaries, there's a few things to keep in mind.
MLS teams can have as many as 30 players on their roster at any given time: No more than 20 on their senior roster and no more than 10 on their supplemental roster. The senior roster applies to players occupying roster slots 1-20. All of these players count against the salary cap, which is set at $6,425,000 US for the 2026 season. Clubs don’t have to fill roster spots 19 and 20, but they must have at least 18 senior roster players at all times.
Players who occupy roster slots 21-3o are considered part of the team's supplemental roster. These players don't count against the salary cap and are usually homegrown players and draft picks.
Designated Players and TAM Players both carry a salary cap hit of $803,125 US, even though they can earn much more than that. U22 Initiative players carry a salary cap hit of $150,000 to $200,000, depending on their age.
Senior and supplemental players who are out on loan don't take up a roster spot. But senior players who are out on loan do count against the salary cap (unless otherwise determined pursuant to the loan agreement).
