Toronto FC vs. Chicago Fire: 3 takeaways
Saturday's loss extended TFC's winless run to nine games and left them with a lot to think about going into the World Cup break.
Toronto FC will have plenty of time for self-reflection during the upcoming MLS break due to this summer's FIFA World Cup.
And there's a lot for TFC to reflect upon following a 2-1 road loss to the Chicago Fire on Saturday, a result that extended the club's winless run to nine games across all competitions. The MLS hiatus also allows the Reds to get healthy after being decimated by injuries through the first 14 games of the campaign.
"I don't know if there's a team out there that needs the break more than us, to be honest. And that's strictly from a physical standpoint. We have a lot of people injured and it's not an excuse because I think we have a roster of 28 players for a reason, so you're always going to need everyone to step up," defender Walker Zimmerman said.
"But there's no denying that we're missing a lot of quality as well. Hopefully this break gives the chance to get some guys healthy and back training with the team when we return."
Here are my three major takeaways from Saturday's match.
