Canada vs. Jamaica: What you need to know

Canada takes on the Reggae Boyz in Jamaica on Friday in the opener of its crucial Concacaf Nations League series.

Canada vs. Jamaica: What you need to know

Games don't get much bigger for the Canadian men's team than its upcoming two-legged Concacaf Nations League playoff against Jamaica.

Since participating at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Canada has looked rather bland and not earned results when it mattered. The Reds lost to the United States in the finals of the 2022-23 Nations League in June and the next month they were eliminated by the Americans in the quarter-finals of the Concacaf Gold Cup.

Since the summer the men's team has only played one game, a humbling 4-1 loss to Japan in an international friendly in October. So, these matches against Jamaica give Canada a chance to get back on track ahead of what could be a very important 2024 for the team.

Here’s what you need to know about Friday's match (10:30 a.m. ET/OneSoccer) between Canada and Jamaica at Kingston's Independence Park.

(NOTE: The game was originally scheduled for Friday night but was postponed until Saturday due to heavy rainfall in Jamaica).
