Emilio Aristizábal makes most of opportunity in TFC's comeback win
The Colombian came up big by scoring the winner against Nashville on Wednesday after patiently biding his time all summer.
TORONTO – Chances to play have been few and far between for Emilio Aristizábal in his first MLS season with Toronto FC.
But the on-loan forward made the most of the opportunity given him to coach Robin Fraser on Wednesday night, replacing DP Josh Sargent in the 75th minute and then scoring deep into injury time to guide TFC to an amazing come-from-behind 2-1 victory over Nashville SC at BMO Field.
Aristizábal helped Toronto feverishly press for a winner after Dániel Sallói’s goal levelled the score in the 72nd minute. With time winding down, the Reds restarted play with a quick free kick after Richie Laryea was fouled inside Nashville’s end of the pitch.
A patient nine-pass sequence ended with Laryea chipping a short cross into the box for Sallói. Nashville’s defenders couldn’t clear the danger, and the ball fell to Aristizábal who stabbed it home in the 93rd minute past goalkeeper Brian Schwake.
