TFC now winless in 5 after road loss vs. Atlanta
  • Toronto FC 0, Atlanta United 1 (Barco 20’)
  • 16 games in a row without a clean sheet for TFC
  • DPs Pozuelo, Soteldo started on bench for Reds

In what has become a recurring theme as of late, Toronto FC gets an A for effort but an F for the final result.

Playing without any Designated Players in the starting 11 on Wednesday night, TFC grew into the match after going down early, but ultimately came up short in a 1-0 defeat to Atlanta United at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

This was the opener of a crucial four-game road trip for Toronto, with all four contests coming against clubs it is trying to leapfrog in the standings in order to play itself into playoff contention. TFC desperately needed three points on the night, but instead they conceded inside 20 minutes and couldn't capitalize on the chances they created the rest of the way, a problem that has plagued them from the start of the campaign.
