The latest installment in one of the best MLS derbies will take place this week when Toronto FC and CF Montreal square off in the semifinals of the 2022 Canadian Championship.
These sides have played some absolute classics over the years in both league play and in the Canadian Championship. But Montreal has enjoyed the better of Toronto in the Voyageurs Cup in recent years, winning the 2019 and 2021 final. It has also gone unbeaten in its last four games vs. TFC (with three wins), so the Reds will be out for some revenge in what has been a heated rivalry at times.
"It's Toronto-Montreal [and] it's everything that goes with that. It's the history of the two cities, it's the history of the two clubs, it's the cultural differences between the two cities. It's the pride of the two cities; everything plays into it," captain Michael Bradley said this week.
