Little room for error from Toronto FC during upcoming homestand
TFC have to take full advantage of this slate of matches at BMO Field in order to climb back into the MLS playoff race.
Home is supposed to be where the heart is, but in the case of Toronto FC, playing at home has been anything but heartwarming.
At 2-2-5, TFC have one of the worst home records in MLS this year, their previous victory at BMO Field coming on April 4 vs. the Colorado Rapids. Dating back to last season, the Reds have won just five times and collected a meagre 25 out of a possible 78 points at home. Only once has Toronto won back-to-back contests at BMO Field since coach Robin Fraser's tenure began at the start of 2025.
During a nine-game home stretch from March 14 to May 9 prior to the World Cup break, TFC earned two wins and collected just 11 points, squandering the great opportunity they had of playing so many games early in the season at BMO Field. The club’s failure to scratch at results at home is just one of many reasons why it is sitting in such a precarious position: 12th in the Eastern Conference, six points and three spots below the playoff line with 16 matches left in the regular season.
Three of Toronto’s four games in August and five of its next six overall are at home, starting with Saturday’s visit by the New England Revolution, which will be the Reds’ first outing at BMO Field since a 4-2 loss to Lionel Messi and Inter Miami on May 9.
