Toronto FC vs. Charlotte FC: 3 takeaways
TFC moved up one spot to 11th in the East following Wednesday's draw, but that mattered very little to coach Robin Fraser.
It wasn't a win, but it was a moral victory of sorts for Toronto FC.
Down by two goals and reduced to 10 men in the second half, Toronto scored two goals in the final 13 minutes of regulation time to earn a 3-3 draw vs. Charlotte FC on Wednesday at BMO Field.
This amazing comeback effort allowed TFC (4-7-9) to move up one place to 11th in the Eastern Conference, two spots and three points below the playoff line with 14 matches remaining in the regular season. But that didn't mean much to coach Robin Fraser.
"I don't spend a whole lot of time looking at the standings. I know we are not where we need to be, and looking at the standings isn't going to change my opinion as to what we should do in training or how we should approach a game against Miami [on Saturday]. I know we're not where we need to be," Fraser told reporters after the match.
"So, that is the only thing I can think about as we continue to work to try to climb and when we become very relevant is when I start to look at the standings."
Here are my three major takeaways from Wednesday's match.
