Toronto FC still has roster spots to fill as season approaches

This story was originally published on TFC Republic last month. I felt it made sense to republish an update version, given how close we are to the start of the season.

We're getting down to the wire with Toronto FC as far as building out its roster ahead of the 2026 MLS regular season.

TFC open their campaign away to FC Dallas on Feb. 21. But even though that match is less than two weeks away, the Reds still have some work to do when it comes to making roster additions. Thus far the only newcomers signed this off-season are centre back Walker Zimmerman, fullback Matheus Pereira and goalkeeper William Yarbrough

To be fair, the club continues to engage with Norwich City over a possible transfer for U.S. international Josh Sargent. And a loan deal (with a buy option) for Colombian forward Emilio Aristizábal is expected to be announced very soon. Still, there's no getting around the fact TFC are leaving it late to pad out their squad, especially on the attacking side of things.

It's a curious state of affairs for a team that finished with a 6-14-14 record in 2025 (12th in the Eastern Conference) and was tied for the third worst attack in MLS with 37 goals.
