Why Tani Oluwaseyi might giggle during 'O Canada' at World Cup
In a 1-on-1 interview, Oluwaseyi talks about his first game for Canada vs. France, playing for Villarreal in Spain, and much more.
As far as national team debuts go, they don't come much bigger than what Tani Oluwaseyi faced in his first game for Canada.
The Canadians were battling European giants France in Bordeaux in an international friendly on June 9, 2024, when Oluwaseyi was subbed on for Ismaël Koné in the 84th minute. The game was tied 0-0 and coach Jesse Marsch handed Oluwaseyi his first cap, hoping that the speedy forward could provide a little bit of magic and break the deadlock.
The game ended in a scoreless draw, but it was a landmark moment for Oluwaseyi, who has since scored two goals and tallied five assists in 24 appearances for Canada. He also made a big career move last summer when he was sold by MLS outfit Minnesota United to Villarreal of Spain's La Liga.
In this one-on-one interview with TFC Republic, Tani Oluwaseyi talks about his first game vs. France, playing in Spain, life under Marsch, and much more.
