MLS break offers Toronto FC a chance to reevaluate and reset

TFC have seven weeks to get their ducks in a row for the second half of the season after a laboured start to their 2026 campaign.

A time to recuperate, a time to reevaluate and a time to reset.

That’s how Toronto FC has to approach the next seven weeks while MLS is on hiatus due to this summer’s FIFA World Cup.

Toronto's first game back after the extended break is July 16 when it faces CF Montreal at Stade Saputo, giving it plenty of time to get its ducks in a row for the second half of the MLS season – and there’s plenty of ducks for TFC to deal with after such a laboured start to the campaign.

Toronto (3-6-5, 14 points) dropped from 11th to 13th in the Eastern Conference – four spots and four points out of a playoff spot – following last weekend’s 2-1 road defeat to the Chicago Fire, its third consecutive MLS loss.
