After a tough first half of the MLS season, Toronto FC showed genuine signs of life after the summer break for the FIFA World Cup and played itself into post-season contention.

But the Reds' hopes were dashed in last weekend’s road loss to Atlanta United, a result that officially eliminated them from the playoff picture and extended their post-season drought to six years.

Toronto (9-12-12, 39 points) enters this final weekend of the regular season in 12th place in the Eastern Conference. TFC can finish 10th if they earn more points than both New York clubs. NYCFC plays away to D.C. United while the Reds Bulls host Atlanta United.

Toronto finished 12th last year (32 points) and 11th in 2024 (37 points). Tenth place would represent Toronto's best position since finishing second during the COVID-shortened 2020 season (44 points), which was the last time it qualified for the playoffs.

Here’s what you need to know about Saturday's match between Toronto and the Philadelphia Union at Subaru Park (4:00 p.m. ET/TSN & Apple TV).
