It was an ugly finish to an ugly year for Toronto FC on Saturday.

Eliminated from playoff contention last week, Toronto closed out its 2026 MLS regular season with a brutal 4-1 defeat to the Philadelphia Union at Subaru Park, a result that put a merciful end to a miserable season from the Canadian club.

DP forward Josh Sargent scored in a losing cause for TFC in their season finale.

Toronto (9-13-12, 39 points) finished 12th in the Eastern Conference for a second year in a row, improving on its 32-point and six-win totals from 2025. But that’s not any kind of silver lining for long-suffering TFC fans who watched their side fail to qualify for the playoffs for a sixth consecutive campaign.
