TFC hoping Kemar Lawrence can add bite to the back line

The sample size of Kemar Lawrence’s body of work for Toronto FC is still very small, so it’s far too soon to draw any long-term conclusions.

Still, the early returns are promising and have given fans a good idea as to why GM Ali Curtis and coach Chris Armas worked so hard behind the scenes for the past several months to bring him to Toronto.

Lawrence joined Belgian club Anderlecht after spending five seasons with the New York Red Bulls, where he played under Curtis and Armas, scoring five goals and tallying 10 assists in 129 regular season and playoff games (earning 124 starts) from 2015 to 2019. He had one goal in 17 appearances in Belgium after being sold to Anderlecht from the Red Bulls in January, 2020.
